Charlotte was designed as a block of the month to accompany my third fabric collection by the same name. The main print in the fabric line is a reproduction of
a stunning French floral dating back to the 1780s which I purchased when on a visit to the US in 2016. On the same visit I purchased a number of antique star blocks and fabric off cuts from the early 1800s which inspired the remainder of the collection.
Charlotte features all of the fabrics in the fabric line, many of which have been fussy cut to achieve some beautiful effects. A number of different techniques have been used throughout the quilt including hand and machine piecing, foundation piecing and needleturn applique. Broderie perse, using motifs from the main feature fabric, surrounds the central seven pointed star block and the quilt is completed with a further three pieced borders, the second of which features fussy cut baskets with corner and central applique blocks. It uses a combination of hand, and machine piecing techniques, or can be pieced entirely by hand. Finished Size - 102” x 102”
Perspex templates are available for this quilt for accuracy and ease of cutting and piecing. Click here to purchase the Charlotte template set.
